Mesa State volleyball team is picked to win the RMAC West Division and finish fourth overall in the RMAC Preseason Poll released today from the league office.
MSC returns three starters from last season’s west division championship team; senior Antionette McCormick (MH) and Tara King (S), along with junior Whitney Howard (L). King was named RMAC Setter of the Year last season averaging 10.57 assists per game.
The Mavericks open the 2010 season at the Oredigger Volleyball Classic hosted by Colorado School of Mines on September 3-4 in Golden, CO. MSC will face Augustana College and MSU-Moorhead on day one of the tournament. Day two the Mavs will take on SW Minnesota State and Abilene Christian.
RMAC league play begins September 16 at Metro State. The Roadrunners are picked second in the east division and second overall. Defending RMAC Champion University of Nebraska Kearney is picked to repeat receiving 7 first place votes. Metro State was the only other team to receive first place votes (7) in the poll.
