2010 Daktronics All Central Region Teams

Mesa State’s Gabriella Parra and Sara Jordan were named to the Daktronics All-Central Region teams announced earlier today. Parra was named First Team outfielder and Jordan was named Second Team utility. Parra, as a first team honoree, will advance on to the All-America ballot.

Parra (Jr., OF, 5’5”, Albuquerque, NM) started all 45 games and was third on the team with a .362 batting average. She led the team with 48 RBI and was second on the team with 13 doubles, 11 homeruns, 38 runs and 59 hits. She recorded 50 putouts, four assists and a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage.

Jordan (Jr., Ut/P, 5’5”, San Marcos, TX) led the team hitting .418 and started all 45 games for the Mavericks. She had a team high 61 hits and 12 homeruns. Jordan finished with 45 RBI, 10 doubles and 30 runs scored.  She led the team in victories (14), appearances (31), complete games (17) and shutouts (5.). She recorded 111 strikeouts and had a team low 4.34 ERA.

Mesa State softball team earned a berth to the 2010 NCAA Division II Softball Regional Tournament hosted by Metro State College May 14-16 in Colorado Springs. MSC fell to the Roadrunners in the first round of the double elimination tournament. MSC was eliminated by Winona State ending their season 23-22 overall.

The NCAA tournament berth was the seventh time MSC has been selected to play in the post season regional tournament. It is the second consecutive season MSC has earned a regional berth (2009, 2002, 2001, 2000, 1998, and 1997). In 2000 MSC advanced to the Elite National Tournament in Columbus, Georgia.
