Senior Jordan Chomko was unanimously selected Rocky Mountain Athletic Academic Player of the Year announced by the league office. Chomko was one of two players to be named unanimous First Team All-Academic.

Chomko will graduate with a Finance degree later this week and carries a 3.82 GPA.

He was named NCAA Division II Central Region Senior Player of the Year following his outstanding year long performance as the Mavericks number one singles and doubles player. He finished 17-9 overall in singles and 21-8 in doubles with partner Nick Provenza.

Chomko was named RMAC First Team singles and second team in doubles, becoming a four-time all-conference selection as his collegiate comes to an end.

Head Coach Dan MacDonald was named Central Region Coach of the Year. MacDonald guided the men’s team to its third regional tournament berth and first men’s regional tournament host this past weekend. MacDonald was named Central Region Coach of the Year (women) in 2009 and at that time guided the women to the school’s first ever host of regional tournament.

MacDonald and the Mesa men won their regional match versus St. Cloud State on May 8 and advanced to the school’s first ever NCAA Division II National Championship Tournament. MSC was one of 16 teams to advance to Altamonte Springs, Fla. May 12-15. MSC fell to #18-ranked St. Edwards, 6-0 in the round of 16. MSC finished the season 2-6 overall.
