Outdoor RMAC championships
Skarda Wins 1,500m

          The Mesa State Mavericks Track & Field team placed 8th at the RMAC Outdoor Championships held in Pueblo, Colorado. Mesa State got strong finishes from Alicia Gieck, Sierra Wiggins, and All-American Alexis Skarda.

          Alicia Gieck (Fr., Delta, CO) placed 3rd in the 400m in a time of 59.02. With her finish, Gieck garnered 2nd Team All-RMAC honors in the event. Her time was a personal best on the season.

          Sierra Wiggins (So., Paonia, CO) placed 2nd in the Javelin with a throw of 37.73m. Her 2nd place finish gave her 1st Team All-RMAC honors. Her throw in the RMAC meet was her best on the season.

          Alexis Skarda (RFr., Boulder, CO) won the 1,500m in 4:49.34. She placed .30 seconds ahead of Adams State's Alicia Nelson. Skarda also finished 3rd in the 5,000m in a time of 18:10.81. Alexis will next compete in the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Charlotte, NC later this month.

          Senior Andrea Ager took home 3rd Team All-RMAC honors in the 400m hurdles and Freshman Christina Slanger garnered a 3rd Team honor in the Heptathalon.
