          Mesa State Catcher Brett Nigbur was named a semifinalist for the PING Baseball Tino Martinez DII Player of the Year Award. Nigbur along with 34 other semifinalists were selected for the award which is in its first year.

          Other candidates from the Central Region include NM Highlands slugger Jason Carr, Augustana Outfielder Nate Baumann, and Winona Outfielder Tony Mueller.

          Nigbur is batting .453 on the season with 14 doubles and 14 homeruns. He was named to the RMAC All-Tournament team this past weekend for hitting 4 homeruns and driving in 18 in 6 games.
