RMAC Golfer of the Year
Five Mavericks earn All-Conference honors

Junior Kristina Casillas (Sacramento, CA) was named Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Golfer of the Year following an outstanding 2009-2010 season for the Mesa State Mavericks.

In her first year at MSC (Sacramento City College) she had four Top 5 finishes including this past Tuesday’s second place finish at the RMAC Women’s Golf Championships. Casillas also had second place finishes at the Grizzly Invitational and ThunderWolf Invitational in the fall.

Casillas was one of three Mavericks named to the All-RMAC First Team Wednesday afternoon. MSC had three of the six players named to the first team.

Sophomores Jessica Berve (Farmington, N.M.) and Jennifer Hilts (Bend, OR) were named All-RMAC First Team.

Berve had four Top 5 finishes, placing second overall at the Regis Invitational and the Maverick Fall Invitational.  She tied for seventh at the RMAC Women’s Golf Championships that concluded this past Tuesday at the Golf Club of Estrella in Goodyear, AZ.

Hilts had five Top 5 finishes including three first place individual titles. Hilts won the Regis Invitational and won both the Maverick Fall and Spring Invitational. She tied for 19th at the RMAC Women’s Golf Championships this past Monday and Tuesday at the Golf Club of Estrella in Goodyear, AZ.

Afton Balling was named All-RMAC Second Team. A sophomore from Cody, WY. she two Top 10 finishes and tied for 23rd at the RMAC Women’s Golf Championships.

Michelle Stripp (Glenwood Springs, CO) was named All-RMAC Third Team. The outstanding freshman had three Top 10 finishes including a second place finish at the Maverick Spring Invitational. She tied for 12th place at the RMAC Women’s Golf Championships.

MSC won the regular season title with 30 points, one point ahead of second place Montana State Billings. MSC placed third at the RMAC Women’s Golf Championships.
