The Maverick Wrestling team competed in the NCAA Super Region IV / RMAC Championships in Alamosa this past weekend. The Top 4 wrestlers at each weight qualified for the National Championships held in Omaha, NE this year.
Maverick Freshman Tyler Juby placed 4th at 149 pounds and will compete March 12th in Omaha. Juby becomes the 4th Maverick in the past 3 years to qualify. Maverick Senior Cole Johnson qualified in 2008 and Senior Chase Walker and Sophomore Rhett Breed in 2009.
Chase Walker and Shane Miller placed fifth but did not qualify for a wrestleback oppurtunity. Walker placed 5th at last years National Championship and became Mesa State's first All-American since the program was reinstated in 2006.
The National Championships will take place in Omaha, Nebraska and will be hosted by the University of Nebraska-Omaha March 12th and 13th. Brackets have not been released at this time.
