Mesa State Men’s Soccer Signs Two for Fall 2010
Four players added to spring squad
Mesa State College head men’s soccer coach Josh Pittman announced the signing of two players for 2010 in addition to the four players that have joined the team this spring.
“Our coaching staff is very pleased with the level of talent with this year’s recruiting class. All of the players we are bringing in will be able to contribute to our team and help us move forward as a program.”
Bashiru Ali comes to Mesa State after a successful career at Mesa Community College in Mesa, Arizona. Originally from Ghana, Bash was a first team All-ACCAC Conference and an All-Region I performer. In addition to his accomplishments on the field, Bash received the Presidential Award for his academics at Mesa Community College. “Bash can play a number of different positions for us. He can play center and left back as well as center mid.”
Phil Neuwirth came to the United States from Hilden, Germany in 2005 and has played for the three time Utah State Champions, La Roca Football Club. Phil has been a member of the Utah State ODP team since 2007, was a Region IV member in 2009 and has played for the Real Salt Lake U-17 SUM Cup Championship team in 2008 and 2009. “Phil is very strong on the ball and is very skillful. He makes very good decisions and will help strengthen our midfield.
In addition to the recent signings, the men’s program has added the following players to the spring squad:
Junior Chris Raines, 6’4” goalkeeper from Queens University.
Freshman Micah Conrads, 6’6” goalkeeper from Cortez, CO.
Freshman Mouhamad Gaye, 6’4” center back/center forward from Senegal.
Freshman Skylar Roy, 6’1” center back/center mid from Grand Canyon University.
The Men’s Soccer Team opens their spring season with a home game versus Brigham Young University March 20th at Walker Field.
