Mesa State (5-11, 4-7 RMAC) defeated visiting Western New Mexico (4-12, 4-6 RMAC) 81-68 Thursday night snapping a two game skid and posting their second highest point total this season. Five Mavericks finished in double figures.
Courtney McCaig posted a team high 16 points and pulled down five rebounds.
Hannah Breidel followed up Tuesday nights’ 15-point output with 14 points and eight rebounds Thursday night versus the Mustangs.
Jenn Kimbrow added 13 points and Meagan Selvidge finished with 12 points and four assists.
Katie Cupp recorded 10 points and handed our four assists playing 37 minutes Thursday night.
MSC led 41-33 at halftime and never trailed in the second half. MSC held a 23-point lead (73-50) with less than five minutes remaining in regulation.
MSC shot its second highest percentage this season (55.1 percent) going 27-49 from the field.
Western New Mexico was led by Lonnie Sanchez’s game high 19 points. Krystal Davis posted a double-double for the Mustangs finishing with 13 points and game high 11 boards.
MSC will play two non-conference road games beginning this Sunday at Johnson & Wales in Denver and at Northern New Mexico Tuesday in Espanola.
