Bennett Newton & Seth Damron
Named to 2009 NFF All-
Colorado Team

Seniors Bennett Newton and Seth Damron were named to the National Football Foundation-Colorado Chapter (NFFCC) All-Colorado Team.

NFFCC board members and the sports information directors from the 10 institutions in Colorado voted on the 2009 NFF All-Colorado team.  The 10 Colorado institutions consist of Adams State, Air Force Academy, Colorado, Colorado Mines, Colorado State, Colorado State-Pueblo, Fort Lewis, Mesa State, Northern Colorado, and Western State.

University of Colorado led all teams with 12 selections to the All-Colorado team, followed by Colorado Mines with 11 and Air Force with 10.  At least one member from eight of the 10 schools was represented on this year’s team.

Newton, the Mavs outstanding linebacker was named NFF All-Colorado First Team Defense. Newton, a senior from Castle Rock, CO, led the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference in tackles with 121 total tackles, including 37 solo and an average of 11 tackles per game. Newton registered 8.5 tackles for loss yardage (31-yards), 4.5 sacks, one interception and one fumble recovery he returned 51-yards for a touchdown.

Newton was named Daktronics  Super Region 3 second team defense and earned RMAC All-Conference Second Team Defense.

Damron, the Mavs explosive tight end was a unanimous selection to the NFF All-Colorado Second Team Offense. He had 17 receptions for 188 yards and one touchdown. Damron earned RMAC All-Conference Second Team Offense honors.

Damron was named ESPN The Magazine All-District 7 Second Team academic and an RMAC All-Academic First Team selection.
