Mesa State women’s golf team leads the CSU-Pueblo-Thunder Wolf Invitational at Walking stick Golf Course after a seven-hour rain delay. The Mavericks shot a 342 and lead by four strokes over Montana State – Billings (346). Western New Mexico is third (349) and Adams State is fourth (352).
Sophomore Afton Balling is tied for third carding a first round score of 83, just two strokes behind leader Kendall Martin (81) of Adams State. Colorado Christian’s Jessica Laurer is in second place (82). MSC’s Kristina Casillas is tied for sixth (85) and Jennifer Hilts’ round of 86, is tied for ninth place. Jessica Berve shot an 88 (T15) and Brooke Jorgensen a 93 (T31).
Balling leads the field in par 3 scoring (-1) and second overall with nine pars on the day.
The field of 10 teams will play round two Tuesday morning beginning at 9 a.m.
