Tinaglia and the Mavericks got their first shutout of the season on Sunday

        Danny Westcott's two goals led Mesa State to its first victory of the season. The Mavericks beat the Colorado Christian Cougars 3-0 on Sunday at Walker Field. Mesa State's record improved to 1-5-1 and 1-1-0 in RMAC competition. Colorado Christian's record fell to 2-5-1 and 0-2-0 in RMAC play.

        Mesa State got off to an early lead and never looked back. Evans Afriyie (Denver, CO) scored the first goal of the game in the 2nd minute. Afriyie's second goal of the season found the right side of the net off a pass from Ivan Goldberg (Boulder, CO).

        Danny Westcott's (Ft. Collins, CO) first goal of the game, came in the 40th minute of the game. Westcott took a pass from Sam Dixon (Missoula, MT) and found the right side of the net for his second goal of the season. That goal gave the Mavericks a 2-0 lead.

        Westcott found the goal again three minutes later off of a deflection for his 3rd goal of the season. That goal gave Mesa State the decisive 3-0 lead.

        Goalkeeper Josh Tinaglia (Littleton, CO) had his first clean sheet of the season against the Cougars.

        Mesa State is back in action this Friday as the play host to the Ft. Lewis Skyhawks at Walker Field.
