Junior Nick Provenza (Grand Junction, CO) was awarded the 2008-2009 Arthur Ashe Award (central region district) by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. The award is presented to a male and female tennis player who best demonstrate leadership and sportsmanship as well as perform in the classroom and in their community.
Provenza was named Rocky Mountain Athletic All-Conference and finished 19-9 overall at number 3 singles. Provenza and doubles partner, Jordan Chomko recorded a 25-8 record at number 1 doubles, won the ITA central region doubles title and advanced to the ITA Division II Small College Nationals in Mobile, Ala. It is the first time in MSC tennis history that a team (singles or doubles) had advanced to the prestige event.
