Mesa State men’s tennis team has qualified for the NCAA Division II tournament announced by the NCAA tennis committee. MSC will travel to Metro State for one of 16 preliminary rounds May 7-8 at the Auraria Courts.
The winner of each preliminary-round tournament will advance to the finals in Altamonte Springs, Florida, hosted by the Central Florida Sports Commission and Rollins College, May 13-16.
Eight Regions were selected to host two preliminary-round tournaments. Metro State will host one of the two Central Region preliminary rounds; St. Cloud State (24-2) hosting the other Central Region tournament (Western New Mexico and Minnesota State Mankato).
Mesa State will play CSU-Pueblo Thursday, May 7 at 2 p.m. The winner will advance to play host Metro State Friday, May 8 at 1 p.m.
This is the second (2006) NCAA men’s tennis tournament berth for the Mavericks.
