Mesa State women’s golf team placed 11th at the Grand Canyon Fall Invitational at the Coldwater Golf Course in Goodyear, Ariz.
MSC’s two-round total 634, including a season low score of 316 in round two, were nine strokes out of a top ten finish. Division I Northern Arizona University won the team title (580) and placed three in the top 10. NAU’s Stephanie Kim shot back-to-back 71’s for the individual title.
MSC sophomore’s Afton Balling (80,73) and Jennifer Hilts (75, 78) tied for 31st at 153. Balling shaved seven strokes off Monday’s round carding a team low 73 in round two. Hilts’ consecutive rounds in the 70’s, placed her in the top four in par 3 scoring (-1).
Michelle Stripp finished 66th at 163. Stripp shot a round one 79. Brooke Jorgenson (166) and Jessica Berve (168) finished 72nd and 73rd respectively.
The Mavericks will host the Maverick Fall Invitational at Tiara Rado Golf Course October 12-13.
