Mesa State placed two players on the 2008 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Teams announced earlier today by the league office. Sophomore setter Tara King (Steamboat Springs, CO) and junior outside hitter Alisan Tompkins (Grand Junction, CO) earned post season honors.
King was named All-RMAC Second Team and Tompkins was named to the third team. King leads the team with 901 assists, averaging 9.79 assists per game. She has recorded 163 digs on the year (1.66 digs per game) and 39 total blocks. King posted three double-doubles on the year (assists, digs). She has posted a match high 54 assists on three different occasions.
Tompkins led the team in kills (301) and kills per game (3.20). She is second on the team with 217 digs (2.31 digs per game) and has recorded nine service aces and 26 total blocks. She has 16 matches where she has posted double digit kills and eight recorded double-doubles.
MSC enters the RMAC post season tournament as the #7 seed and will play #2 seed Western New Mexico Friday afternoon in Kearney, NE.
