Senior guard Mike Dominguez tied for an All-Star team high 17 points, grabbed six rebounds and posted a game high three steals Friday night starting for the East All-Stars in the NABC/Division II Elite Eight All-Star game in Springfield, Mass.

was named to the Daktronics Division II All-America Second Team announced earlier today. Dominguez is the first Mesa State Maverick to earn All-America status since MSC became a Division II institution.

Dominguez Invited to Elite Eight All-Star Game

Mike Dominguez
has accepted an invitation to play in the 2010 National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC)/Division II All-Star game held in conjunction with the Elite Eight in Springfield, Mass., Friday, March 26. Dominguez becomes the first Maverick to play in the NABC/Division II All-Star game. The All-Star game will tip-off at 5 p.m. (MST) Friday at the MassMutual Center.

Dominguez named to All-Tournament Team
Mike Dominguez, Central Region Player of the Year, was named to the Central Region All-Tournament Team. Dominguez was the only player named to the team not in the championship game. MSC fell to Augustana College in the semifinal round of the Central Region tournament in Mankato, Minn. Sunday night. In the title game Tuesday night St. Cloud State defeated Augustana College in overtime 84-75. St. Cloud will represent the Central Region in the Elite Eight March 24-27 in Springfield, Mass.

March in Grand Junction. A season of prosperity and promise. Leaves are coming back, flowers are starting to grow, and people are generally in a happy mood. It is also a thriving time for Mesa State athletics. All the practices are in session, baseball, golf, soccer, and softball are thriving, and there is not a care in the world. However, one sport that doesn’t get to see March very often but had experienced a resurgence.

Mavs Beat Winona 73-68
#2 seed Mesa State men's basketball team won it first ever NCAA DII playoff game Saturday afternoon in a 73-68 win over #7 seed Winona State (MN) in the quarterfinal round of the NCAA DII Central Region Tournament in Mankato, Minn. MSC will advance to the semifinals and play Augustana Sunday at 4 p.m. (MST). Augustana defeated RMAC foe New Mexico Highlands earlier in the day.
