Juniors Kate Lowder and Victoria Sargent won the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Central Regional tennis title and advance to the ITA Small College National Championship October 15-18 in Mobile, Alabama.  The duo becomes the first women’s team at MSC to advance to the national championship.

Teri Mayeda (2005-2008) and Dolinda Von Drumpt (1990-1994) were named to the RMAC Women’s Tennis All-Century Team.  Mayeda and Von Drumpt were two of just six players to earn the honor.

Senior Renee Demianew (Athena, OR) was awarded the 2008-2009 Arthur Ashe Award (central region district) by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. The award is presented to a male and female tennis player who best demonstrate leadership and sportsmanship as well as perform in the classroom and in their community. Demianew finished the season 23-7 at number 3 singles and 22-5 at number 2 doubles with freshman, Mandie Divino.

Mesa State and Neb.-Kearney played each other Saturday afternoon in the final of the NCAA Division II Central Region bracket and the right to advance to the National Tournament (16 teams) in Altamonte Springs, Florida, hosted by the Central Florida Sports Commission and Rollins College, May 13-16.
