Tonya Stites was inducted in to the RMAC Hall of Fame Saturday night in Colorado Springs at the Colorado Springs Marriott. Stites was one of six individual and two teams inducted in to the 2010 class.

Mesa State College head women’s basketball coach Roger Walters announced his first recruiting class as the Mavericks signed nine student-athletes for the 2010-‘11 academic year. Coach Walters, hired March 18, 2009, is coming off his first season at the helm of the women’s program. This years’ class includes four freshman, three sophomores and two juniors. Six of the incoming student-athletes are from Colorado.

No. 6-ranked Fort Lewis College (26-2, 15-1) turned a two point deficit (20-22) at 8:03 in the first half and went on a 19-2 run to close out the first half with a 39-24 lead. The Mavericks (8-16, 5-12) played the Skyhawks close in the second half (30-33) but could not crack the Skyhawks double digit lead.

Mesa State women gave the Grizzlies all they could handle Friday night eventually falling to Adams State 60-51. The loss dropped the Mavericks to 8-15, 5-11 and the victory improved ASC to 18-5, 12-4 in league play.

Mesa State women fell at Western New Mexico 84-68 Saturday night in Silver City. The loss dropped the Mavs to 8-14, 5-10 in league play. The win kept the Mustangs post season hopes alive improving to 6-15, 6-9 in RMAC action.
